Good lash aftercare is simple. The goal is to protect the bond during the early curing period, keep the lash line clean afterward, and avoid habits that pull or coat the extensions. This guide shares the routine Master Brooke River reviews with Zenmi Lashy clients in Portland.

The first 24 to 48 hours

Follow the aftercare plan given at your appointment. In general, avoid getting the lashes soaked right away and avoid direct steam, sauna sessions, swimming, or very hot showers aimed at the face during the early cure window.

Do not test the set by rubbing your eyes, pulling fans apart, or applying mascara. If something feels uncomfortable, contact Zenmi Lashy rather than trying to remove or adjust an extension yourself.

After the cure period: clean lashes last better

Once your artist confirms it is appropriate to cleanse, regular lash-line hygiene becomes important. Makeup, natural oils, skincare residue, and dust can collect near the lash line and affect both comfort and retention.

Use a lash-safe cleanser as directed, rinse gently, pat dry, and brush only when the lashes are dry. Avoid aggressive rubbing with towels or cotton fibers that can snag extensions.

Products and habits to avoid around extensions

Oil-heavy makeup removers, waterproof mascara, eyelash curlers, and frequent picking are common reasons clients lose lashes earlier than expected. You do not need to avoid every skincare product; simply keep products that can break down the bond away from the lash line.

Sleep can matter too. Side and stomach sleepers may notice more shedding on one side. A clean pillowcase and gentle habits go a long way.

When to schedule your fill

Most Zenmi clients reserve fills every 2 to 3 weeks. Booking your next appointment before leaving is the easiest way to keep your preferred time and avoid letting the set become too sparse.

Clients receive service-appropriate aftercare guidance and, when needed, an aftercare kit with the essentials for their specific service and healing stage.

Need help after your appointment?

For a concern about your set, contact the studio that performed the service. For persistent eye pain, significant swelling, vision changes, or symptoms that feel urgent, seek prompt advice from an appropriate licensed healthcare professional.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get my lashes wet after extensions?

Follow the timing given by your artist. The early cure period is when avoiding water and direct steam matters most; afterward, regular gentle cleansing is important.

Can I wear mascara with lash extensions?

Mascara is usually unnecessary and can be difficult to remove without tugging or leaving residue. Ask your artist before using any product near your extensions.

How often should I clean lash extensions?

Follow your artist's plan, but regular gentle lash-line cleansing after the initial cure period is important for hygiene and retention.
